Transitioning to Secondary School

We work in partnership with our local primary schools to ensure that the year six into seven transition process is the most welcoming; preparing our new students for a successful start in September. We aim to ensure the transition day provides students with the experiences and opportunities that will build their confidence in making the leap from the primary to the secondary phase. We provide transition resources and guidance to both parents and students so that they arrive in September equipped with the tools and knowledge to settle into the secondary phase.

New Intake Parents Evening

Our Intake Parents Welcome Evening for parents/carers will be held on Tuesday 4th July 2023 from 18:00-19:00.

This is an informative evening where the Head of the Secondary Phase will share the values of the school and talk through the expectations, systems and structures of daily life at Saint George's C of E School.

The meeting will be held in the school hall and your child is also welcome to attend. Due to the size of our school hall, where possible, please do not bring siblings and other relatives.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Year 7 Transition Days

Transition Days have been arranged for Thursday 6th July 2023 and Friday 7th July 2023.

These will be whole-day events taking place at Saint George's C of E School from 08:45 to 14:45; meeting in the main hall.

We want to provide a positive event that would allow pupils to experience a day in their new secondary setting, so they feel more familiar with the building and staff in September. They will take part in lessons across a range of subjects, meet the teachers and attend an assembly with the Head of the Secondary Phase. This day will allow pupils to meet their peers and form tutors. This will allow students to build confidence in navigating a timetable and site much larger than what they are accustomed to with the supervision and support of staff.

Expectations

Students are to arrive in the hall at 08:45.

The Students will leave at 14:45 from the lower field (Parents to arrange to drop them off and collect them).

Please can students remember their:

  • PE Kit
  • Pens and pencils
  • Wear your primary school uniform
  • Sun hat & sun cream (coat for bad weather)

We will be providing lunch for students. Nearer the time, parents will receive a form to order the lunch and advise of any allergies.

We please ask parents not to drive onto the school site when dropping off and collecting children, there is very little space in the road and the car park is shut.
