On Wednesday 14th November we invited in local businesses to meet with the school. We had 20 companies come along including the Deputy Mayor. The purpose of the meeting is to create a business network who will engage with our students. They have agreed to come in and do career talks and also offer work placements to our years 10 to 13. They also explained their apprenticeship schemes and volunteer opportunities for the students. We will all meet again in January and will continue to build the network as we go. This forms 5 and 6 of the Career Gatsby benchmarks that school has to adhere to.
The Deputy Mayor said that she was delighted with the idea and felt that the two pupils in year 8 who helped out were polite and a credit to the school. Harry Finlay and Telbin Cheema yr 8 were amazing and I couldn’t have done it without them.
