The university of Kent Virtual Debate Club

Tuesday 10th November 2020

Stuck indoors in Lockdown 2.0 and unable to attend your usual clubs? Bored after school? Want to try something new that will look great on your Post-16 applications for six form and college?

The University of Kent is offering students at Saint George’s the opportunity to participate in their new Virtual Debate Club.

Kent’s Outreach Debating Programme aims to raise the speaking and listening, confidence, teamwork and leadership skills of secondary school students. Students have the opportunity to work with the University’s Student Ambassadors to learn more about constructing effective arguments, speaking with confidence, and how debating works. The sessions are designed to introduce students to the UK parliamentary debating style and help them to build strong arguments and run their own debates.

The Year 9 & 10 club will run on Thursday’s from 12th November for six weeks. It will take place online from 16:30-17:30 each Thursday and it is hosted on Zoom.

If you are interested in taking part email Miss Cocks.
