Year 7 September arrangements

Friday 17th July 2020

Year 7 September

Dear parents and carers

As you will be aware, the Government Department for Education has advised all secondary schools to operate in year group bubbles from September.  This is a temporary measure to minimise the contact between students and maintain as much social distancing as is realistically possible.

As a result of the year group bubbles, we are temporarily moving to year group Form Tutor Groups.  Most year 6 children have already met their Form Tutor via Zoom.  Your child will still be with the same children they have met (and some others) in September.  We hope that we will be able to revert to vertical Form Tutor Groups in the very near future.

The details of the temporary Form Tutor Groups are as follows:

Canterbury 1-4 – Mr Ward

Canterbury 5-8 – Mrs Mashiri

Rochester 1-4 – Mrs Armstrong and Mrs Benning

Rochester 5-8 – Miss Kazim

Salisbury 1-4 – Miss Sadrai

Salisbury 5-8 – Mr Atwal and Mr Taylor

York 1-4 – Mr Cave

York 5-8 – Mr Baker

The start of September, due to the current circumstances, will be slightly different.  Year 7 will have their first day of school on Tuesday 1st September.  Year 7 students should arrive to school at 8.35am and meet in the school hall.  Students should wear school uniform and bring with them the necessary stationery as detailed in previous correspondence and on the school website.  There is no need to bring PE kit.  We will provide a packed lunch on day 1.  Year 7 will not come into school on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd September.  This allows us time to introduce the new systems to the rest of the school in their bubbles.  Year 7 return to school on Friday 4th September ready for normal lessons.  The week beginning 7th September will be a normal school week.

Below is a reminder of the dates and times of the year 7 welcome days in August:
