Please take note that we have added measurements to avoid the need for trying on items of clothing in line with current COVID-19 guidelines. Please take care to measure your child so as you know which size to order.

Uniform

We expect all of our students to come to school every day in correct uniform and to bring the correct equipment.  All students should be ready to learn on a daily basis.

Hoodies are not permitted in school.  Students are advised to bring an outdoor coat with them to school (coats may not be worn in lessons)

Boys

  • Black formal trousers (not jeans or leggings)
  • White shirt tucked in
  • School tie done up so the badge is showing
  • School jumper or cardigan (if worn)
  • Black blazer with school badge (to be worn at all times)
  • Entirely black, formal leather or leather look shoes.  Boots and heeled shoes are not permitted. 

Girls

  • Black, formal trousers (not jeans or leggings) or black school skirt (to the knee).
  • School blouse (no t-shirts to be showing underneath)
  • School jumper or cardigan (if worn)
  • Black blazer with school badge (to be worn at all times)
  • Entirely black, formal leather or leather look shoes.  Boots and heeled shoes are not permitted.
  • White or black socks (no over the knee socks) or tights (black or natural)

 

Other uniform and equipment

PE, Dance and Drama

Kit is needed for every practical lesson.

Spare kit is provided for students who forget on the odd occasion.

All pupils must have football, or rugby boots for games that are played on the school field, this is for the health and safety of each pupil.  Pupils who do not bring in the correct footwear will be given boots to wear and normal sanctions will apply. 

 

Day to day equipment

Students are expected to have the correct stationery and equipment with them for every lesson.  Some stationery is available to buy from Student Support and the Pastoral Base.

Minimum equipment brought to school every day should be:

  • A suitable school bag
  • 2 writing pens (black or blue ink)
  • HB pencil
  • Ruler
  • Eraser
  • Scientific Calculator

 

Hair, makeup & jewellery

No unnatural hair colours or lines / shapes shaved into the head

No large earrings or excessive amounts of jewellery (due to health and safety reasons)

No facial piercings

Discreet makeup may be worn.  Unacceptable makeup will have to be removed.  False nails and brightly coloured nail varnish are not permitted.

Jewellery is the responsibility of the students.

 

Mobile phones and electronic equipment

None of the above is permitted inside the school building or in lessons.  Mobile phones are to be switched off in lessons.

Such items will be confiscated if misused.  Mobile phones and electronic equipment are the student’s own responsibility.

Earphones and the like are not permitted at Saint George’s

 

Energy drinks

No cans of high energy drinks, such as Red Bull or Relentless should be brought to school

 

Aerosols

Please do not bring these into school.  They can seriously harm some students who have asthma or breathing difficulties.

 

Behaviour for Learning card

Every student will be issued a card at the beginning of every new term.  Staff may sign this card if students behave in an inappropriate manner.  This may include not wearing the correct uniform.

Those with clean cards at the end of the term will be entered into a prize draw.

PE and Sport

Year 7 Curriculum

Students are taught in single sex, ability groups for the year. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including; netball, basketball, badminton; handball, rugby, football, gymnastics, fitness, rounders, athletics, and softball.

Clubs Available

Handball, netball, football (Inc. girls football), rugby (Inc. girls rugby), Powerwave (form of cross fit), boxing, badminton, athletics, rounders, table tennis and dodgeball. The club timetable will be displayed in form rooms and on the PE notice board.  The clubs alternate each term. Clubs are at lunch times and after school. We also run many school teams and have lots of fixtures & tournaments against other schools.

PE excursions/trips

There are sports trips and excursions that run throughout the year school.  Letters and emails will be sent home.

Expectations of Kit

Students must wear correct Saint George’s PE kit to every lesson.

KS3 (Year 7 & 8)

  • Red T-shirt (compulsory)
  • Red Jumper
  • Red Rugby Shirt

 

Students should bring the following to all PE lessons:

  • Black tracksuit bottoms
  • Black shorts
  • Trainers
  • Boots (rugby or football, girls included) must be worn for activities on the field (winter only). Boots will be provided for those who forget their own boots.  No studs or blades can be worn on the school MUGA (3G pitch).  Only trainers, or moulded boots can be worn on this surface.
  • Black football socks

 

Forgotten kit

Students that forget their PE kit will be expected to borrow spare kit which is washed daily
