Class Teaching Assistant: Miss Parker
Year 3 children continue their learning journey within Phase 2 at Saint George’s Primary Phase. Phase 2 consists of years 2, 3 and 4. This enables a smooth transition across the infants to junior age range, ensuring all children feel comfortable and well supported.
In Year 3 children are provided with many opportunities to show their independence and their sense of responsibility, such as being a School Council Rep or a Class Monitor, much like Year 2. Children are allocated their own desk space with a named tray in which to keep their day to day classroom resources for which they are responsible for. They will not be required to bring their own pencil cases as there is plenty of equipment for them to use at school.
Daily whole-class singing and musical activities continue to play an important role in assisting with Literacy excellence and building confidence, teamwork and resilience.
We continue to take part in weekly Forest School trips, have regular outdoor visits within the local community to enhance our understanding of the world around us and enjoy maths mastery both inside and outside of the classroom.
How Can You Help at Home?
Please encourage your child to be more independent. This could come from having household responsibilities, planning and helping to prepare meals, helping to take care of younger siblings, keeping track of their own homework and reading book, packing and carrying their own rucksack into and out of school each day, encouraging discussion around current news topics to build communication skills.
Read with them daily (or discuss what they’re reading independently, including questioning them on their understanding)
Rehearse, quiz and chant times tables with your child (they should know 2x, 5x, 10x, 3x, 4x, 8x by the end of Year 3).
We look forward to welcoming you into Owl Class!
