Highlights from the 2025 Careers Programme at Saint George’s School

2025 has been an exciting and purposeful year for careers education at Saint George’s C of E School. Across every key stage, we’ve provided opportunities for students to explore future pathways, develop essential skills, and connect with professionals from a wide range of industries.

Kicking Off with the Years 11–13 Careers Show

We commenced the year with our first Careers Show for Years 11 to 13, welcoming over 25 industry professionals from technology, healthcare, law, finance, and the creative arts sectors. Students were buzzing with curiosity and asked thoughtful questions throughout the event. A huge thank you to organisations including BAE Systems, National Grid, Escape Studios, SOAS, and many more for helping make the event successful.

Year 13 Drop-Down Day: Practical Prep for Life Beyond School

Year 13s then took part in a jam-packed Drop-Down Day, where they:

  • Cooked and budgeted their own slow-cooker lasagne in a life-skills session with Miss Jordan.
  • Set future goals with Saint George’s alumnus, James Gardner.
  • Tackled applications with Construction Youth Trust.
  • Learnt money management from the University of Greenwich.
  • And took part in an insightful alumni Q&A panel.

It was a practical, inspiring day that helped students prepare for life after school, whether at university, on an apprenticeship, or in employment.

Mock Interviews: Real-World Readiness

Later in the term, our Year 13 students also participated in Mock Interviews with external professionals. These sessions built their confidence, improved their communication skills, and gave them real insight into the interview process. Thank you to all the professionals who volunteered their time and expertise.

Career Inspiration Starts Early

Our Year 7 and Primary Phase students had their own dedicated Careers Show, introducing them to exciting possibilities in engineering, graphic design, construction, and healthcare. One student shared, “I’ve never thought about graphic design before, but now it sounds really fun.”

Thanks to our fantastic partners, including BMJV, Charlton Athletic Community Trust, Ingleton Wood, and many others, who made the day so memorable.

Years 8–10: Ending on a High Note

We concluded our careers events calendar with a vibrant Careers Show for Years 8–10. Students engaged with representatives from LDA Design, The Royal Navy, Pell Frischmann, HM Prison and Probation Service, Transport for London, and more. It was an energising finale that left students motivated and informed.

A massive thank you goes out to all the exhibitors, alumni, staff, and supporters who contributed to our careers programme this year. Your involvement is helping our students truly #FlourishInTheFuture.
