Marc Guehi Returns to Saint George's

Yesterday, we had the incredible honour of welcoming back one of our own, former Saint George’s pupil and now Crystal Palace Football Club's Captain, Marc Guéhi!
Marc returned to inspire our current football teams, showing first-hand how dedication, discipline and hard work in sport truly pays off.
His visit began with a heartfelt reunion with his former teacher and headteacher, now Trust CEO, Mr Steve Carey. Four lucky pupils, who had previously featured in a BBC interview about Marc, were then surprised with the unforgettable opportunity to meet him in person!
He spent time catching up with some of his former teachers, who couldn’t have been prouder of all he’s achieved. They were delighted to reminisce and share their memories of Marc as a student. With Mr Mackey sharing a video of Marc not only playing football, but also sharing his talent in playing the drums.
Marc then joined a Q&A session, where students learned more about his time at Saint George’s, including the fun fact that his favourite subject after PE was English! As well as learning that Marc does in fact get nervous before big games, but as he shared with the students, the more you do something, whilst you might still get nervous, it's not a bad thing - as long as you use the nerves in a positive way.
A massive thank you to Marc for giving up his time to come back to the school, the students were truly blown away and it will be a day they forever remember.
A huge thank you as well to Mr Cunningham for organising such a memorable visit and keeping it a surprise for students and staff alike!
