Pupils from Saint George’s Join Trust Leavers’ Celebration

On Wednesday 9th July, our Year 6 pupils joined others from across Aletheia Academies Trust at Rochester Cathedral for this year’s Leavers’ Service. The event marked the end of their primary school journey and looked ahead to the exciting transition into secondary school.

The theme of the service was Belonging, a chance for pupils to reflect on the communities they’ve been part of and how those experiences will shape the next stage of their lives. Pupils from all schools took part in leading prayers, readings and hymns, including I, the Lord of Sea and Sky and Brave

Ahead of the service, Year 6 classes worked with musician Shao Hao from The Prime Agency in a songwriting workshop, where they explored freestyling, lyric writing and emotional expression. The result was an original leavers’ song, performed live at the cathedral with all schools joining in the chorus.

Each school also brought a decorated puzzle piece, representing their unique place in the Trust. These were placed together during the service to symbolise unity across the Aletheia community.

Our Executive Headteacher and CEO of the Trust, Mr Carey, gave a short address to all pupils, encouraging them to carry their sense of belonging into secondary school and beyond.

We were especially proud to see a video message shared during the service from former Saint George’s pupil and current England footballer Marc Guehi, recorded during his recent visit to the school. His well-wishes reminded our Year 6s that their potential is limitless.

We’re incredibly proud of our pupils and everything they’ve achieved. This special service was a fitting way to celebrate their time in primary education and wish them well as they take their next steps.
