Worship
At Saint George’s Primary Phase we have a daily act of worship. Our worship usually takes place in our school hall. As children come into the hall for worship we play calming music for the children to listen to, enabling them to be calm and focused. Each week we have a new Worship focus and ‘Thought for the Week’. This is embedded into other areas of learning within the classroom. The main candle is lit at the start of each worship, as well as a candle from each class. These are a symbol that God is with us and are also a focal point for the children. At the end of worship, the candles are blown out and the class candles are taken back to the classrooms, bringing God and the learning from worship with us throughout our school.
Children are encouraged to join in with a daily worship song each day as well as regular singing within their classroom. Children are presented with their ‘Star of the Week’ certificates and our weekly Community house points are added up each week and recorded during worship. We reflect on our learning from worship for the week and how we can take out learning forward in our daily lives.
Once a term our Primary pupils walk to St Mary’s church where Trudi leads our act of worship.

Meet our Reverend Trudi
Trudi was ordained in 2011 and came to work at St Georges in 2014. Alongside many responsibilities, Trudi is also the vicar at St Mary’s Church and the Diocesan Vocations Champion for young people.
"When my curacy was coming to an end, I never thought I’d end up in Gravesend, and never thought I would work in as a chaplain in a Secondary School. But when I saw this post advertised it made my heart sing. I knew without a doubt that God wanted me here, and I've never regretted that decision. The best thing about my job is the students; getting to know them, spending time with them and sharing God’s love with them is an amazing privilege and joy!"
